The Power Of Mentors
The Power Of Mentors
This morning, a conversation with a business mentor completely shifted my perspective. To be honest, my relationship with this mentor is super informal—it actually started when he came across one of my ads on Instagram, loved what I was doing, and reached out.
Mentors have been really scarce for me. I’ve always wanted mentors and guidance. I’ve probably spent over $75,000 on different programs, coaching, and mentorship. But what I’ve found is that the organic relationships—with people who actually know you personally and believe in you—are the best.
In our conversation, I was sharing my need for more training in a certain area of my business that I wanted to pursue. He began telling me about a company that had helped train his team members, and then essentially said he would cover the cost of that training to invest in me and our relationship.
I was shocked. The reality is, we are working together on some projects, but he doesn’t really have much to gain by investing that kind of money into training since we have separate businesses.
It made me pause and ask myself, “Would I do that for someone?” And that’s when I realized why financial success in the right hands can be so powerful. A business owner who’s barely scraping by simply doesn’t have the resources to do something like that.
Too often in business, people make it all about themselves. I’ve definitely fallen into that trap—thinking it’s all about me and my success. But as I’ve been reading more about biblical principles in business, I’ve learned that true financial gain only comes from serving your neighbor. The more people you serve—and the better you serve them—the more you’ll be financially compensated.
Keep building—it’ll be worth it.
